Supreme Court has ruled in favour of small firms who have made business interruption insurance claims

In response to the news that the Supreme Court has ruled in favour of small firms who have made business interruption insurance claims due to the impact of the pandemic, Labour’s London Assembly Economy Spokesperson, Leonie Cooper AM, said:
“This ruling is a huge relief for the significant number of struggling businesses in the capital looking to claim back on the impact of the first lockdown.
“Since then, the small and medium sized firms that have been able to stay afloat have been on the edge of a precipice, threatening thousands more livelihoods and the fabric of our high streets.
“This situation is so similar to the plight of the Borough Market traders, in the aftermath of the terror attack on London Bridge in 2017.
“I hope the claims process will now be very quick and straightforward, so that businesses can urgently access these vital funds”.
Leonie Cooper AM is the London Assembly Member for Merton and Wandsworth.
