Courage, Creativity and Collaboration
Chair of Merton Chamber, John Merriman, is also the owner of Crown Lane Studio and Metronome Café and events space is passionate about the creative sector. He explains why he wanted to host a networking event for those within the sector.
“The creative industries are different. We craft our art and take it to market. Contrast this to the service sector, which provides a service upon the demands and requests of the end-user. This pandemic has rocked both sectors, but very personally, the creative sector. I am convinced that in speaking with like-minded people, our courage can be restored; creativity can re-awaken and collaborations can create possibilities.”
With the theme of Courage, Creativity and Collaboration guests shared stories and experiences as well as the creative solutions they’ve put in place for their businesses over the last few months. Nick Parr, Theatre Director at New Wimbledon Theatre spoke about the positive planning they have for the next 18 months, with a packed programme of shows, as well as how they want to continue their proactive collaborations with the local community.
Our thanks to Hartley Fowler Chartered Accountants, who sponsored this event.
Finally, a word from our guests:
'Just came out of my first Remo networking event (which was organised by the Merton Chamber of Commerce) and was genuinely relieved at how easy, fun and inclusive it was. I've done a handful of virtual networking events since March 2020 and hands down this was the best experience so far. Sorry Zoom, move over' Nina, Soora Photography
“Great event everyone - thanks so much for organising!” Matt, Clownfish
