A24 Morden Road/Jubilee Way crossing improvements
Between 26 March and 7 May 2019, TfL consulted on proposals for the junction between Morden Road and Jubilee Way in the London Borough of Merton. They received 225 responses to the consultation, of which 76 per cent said that the changes would improve the junction.
Summary of issues raised during consultation
- Positive comments included supporting the principle of making the changes, and saying the proposals would be good for road safety, cycling, residents and/or pedestrians
- The lack of segregated cycling infrastructure and the narrowing of lanes on the Morden Road northbound exit to the junction was raised as a concern by some respondents
TfL are planning to proceed with the proposals. However, following a review of the full width advanced stop lines (ASLs), due to the split phases of the traffic signals whereby right turning traffic turns during a different part of the signal cycle to the straight ahead traffic, they have decided to progress with a final design which will have part width ASLs.
Construction is scheduled to begin in Autumn 2019.
