Merton Partnership Environment Sub Group
Led by local charity Sustainable Merton, this working group brings together all those interested and involved in improving Merton’s environment. It covers four themes - air quality, waste, food and energy, all of which have an impact on businesses operating in the borough in our quest to make Merton a carbon neutral borough by 2030. From summer 2019 the group will also oversee the Council’s Air Quality Action Plan. With actions around anti-idling, emissions and clean air routes and proposals to review air quality in planning applications, we will work to represent the business voice as new policies are introduced.
In 2019 Merton Chamber joined forces with Sustainable Merton and Geeks, a Morden based software development company, who host a Green networking event. This supports businesses in their journey towards carbon neutrality, addressing environmental policies, reducing single used plastics and a business’s carbon footprint.
In 2019 we introduced a new award category to the Merton Best Business Awards – Best Positive Workplace.
We would like to congratulate LuMa Cafe for Winning this award, and Peldon Rose who were Runners Up.
This Category looked at how businesses support a culture that supports the environment and a healthy workplace.
