Merton Art Space x Hear Art Short Films

Written byNatasha Morgan

Merton Art Space (Wimbledon) has teamed up with Hear Art this year to celebrate Deaf Awareness Week. Merton Arts Space will be screening Hear Art’s trilogy of award-winning short films One Letter, Night Shift and Hair Uncovered on the 4th May 2023 at 7pm.

All three short films have been directed/written by talented deaf filmmakers with 50% deaf and hearing cast and crew.

Hear Art is a community interest company based in Merton which is founded by Cindy Sasha and Oscar Winner Rachel Shenton to fund and mentor deaf filmmakers, helping them to create independent films that will reach all film lovers; both in the deaf and hearing community. Hear Art provides a safe space in which deaf creatives can showcase their work to a wider and mainstream audience.

Merton Art Space is excited to be screening these short films to share a deaf cinematic experience with the audience and to celebrate UK’s amazing deaf talent during deaf awareness week. This is a must-see event where profits from ticket sales will go towards Hear Art to support the deaf film community.

You can check out the three films here: https://hearart.co.uk/

Please share this event with any friends or family who live in or around Wimbledon, especially anyone from the heard of hearing/deaf community.
