A record number of Merton businessmen and women have put themselves in line for a top award.
A late surge in entries in the run up to the closing date on Friday, July 29th meant that judges for the Merton Business Awards 2011 must reach their verdict on the borough’s success stories from a much greater pool than for last year’s inaugural awards.
Judging has now begun and this year’s winners will be announced at a Gala Awards Ceremony and dinner to be held at the Wimbledon All England Lawn Tennis Club on Wednesday, September 21st. For more information visit www.mertonbusinessawards.co.uk

“Over £250,000 finance raised for local businesses” 
THE FINANCE BROKERAGE service, delivered by Merton Chamber of Commerce, has now raised over £250k for local business.  Businesses decided that they...."Love Wimbledon"
As we prepare to make Wimbledon a Business Improvement District, we ran a poll so that the Wimbledon businesses could vote for the name that would become the new Wimbledon brand. The businesses voted for "Love Wimbledon".
"Love Wimbledon" brings together the work of Wimbledon Town Centre Management and the Wimbledon Going for Gold campaign, consolidating them into a focused, adaptable and effective body for the town centre. All Wimbledon businesses who are in the BID area will be contacted over the next month to gather your views on our proposals for the town centre and your support for the BID. .... London Borough of Merton, along with participating London boroughs are supporting a new fantastic road safety initiative. Aimed at moped and scooter riders, the Right Gear London initiative is designed to reduce the disproportionate numbers of moped and scooter rider deaths and injuries, which amount to over 4,000 every year across Greater London or, on average, 1 fatality every 2 weeks.
